Forgotten Episode 6: Waiting, Cat Pics, WAITING

Well dear readers, I have ultra mega exciting news, but I am waiting until it’s “official” before I broadcast it.  So for now I will try and hold my tongue (but seriously though I am having a tough time doing it).

In the mean time, here are some things for you!

Episode 6 of Forgotten is up!  “Waiting” presented even more of a challenge as far as asynchonicity goes; there are a few passages which diverge for quite some length before meeting up again.  This one took a few takes to get right.  😉  Hope you enjoy!

Aaaand, some more kitty pictures!

The cat shelves I built continue to be a huge success.  Lemon took to them right away, but Echo was a little hesitant; after only three instances of me ‘helping’ her up there though, she’s really taken a liking to them.

And I canned peaches yesterday! But there was something a little strange about one of them at the top of the box… I began gathering clues as to what could have possibly happened to it. A mystery was afoot!

Hmmm…

Haha I think it was the most adorable way to have a bruised peach.

Oh an check out this one last thing; all these egg yolks went into making ice cream for Aaron’s birthday (way back in July- just getting around to uploading tons of photos now haha).  They were from two different cartons of eggs, if you’re wondering about the difference in colour (free run -vs- not).

Made for some delicious vanilla ice cream!

So that’s all for now folks.  I’m expecting my copies of Zombies Galore in the mail, and am looking forward to reading some good ol’ fashioned zombie short stories!  (That’s the one where you can look inside and read my piece “Monday Matinee Madness”!)

Next post is best post.

Thanks for reading.

Zombies Galore, Oddly Satisfying, and Episode 5 of Forgotten

Well dear readers, today I have much to share with you!

Zombies Galore is live, and my piece “Monday Matinee Madness” opens and sets the tone for the collection.  You can actually read my contribution in its entirety for free!  Just “Look Inside”, and because mine is the opening story, you can check it out, which I’m quite pleased about.  🙂

Now onto the latest from my Mathematical Husband, who is persisting on creating these mesmerizing and oddly satisfying pieces of art with his laser cut Wild Gears.  This video shows him using a gear-in-a-gear-*in-a-gear*.  Pretty impressive.

And now for another thing you can check out.  Forgotten is my strange little audo project which I’m going to keep calling an Oddcast.  I’ve just put up episode 5 for you, and it’s called “Choices”.  We’re getting better at this.

I’ll leave it at that.  Thanks for stopping by.

“Luka and Iso”- Top 10% in The Nicholl Fellowship!

Hello wonderful blog readers!

I received an email from the Nicholl Fellowship today.

Every year, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences picks five writers and pay them, based on the strength of the script they submitted, to produce another feature length screenplay.

I didn’t make the cut for the Fellowship, but my script scored in the top ten percent!

7,251 entrants, and I’m in the top 10%?  Pretty awesome, but of course, disappointing not to advance.

Ah well, I’m hoping I can find someone out there as excited about the story of the first genetically engineered dragon as I am!  Perhaps this will help me along.  It will make a killer film.

Congratulations to everyone that is advancing.  I’m sure there are some amazing scripts, and how they’ll ever pick just five is completely beyond me!

In other news, I received my second ever royalty cheque!  Seems that A Quick Bite of Flesh is still selling.  Want some zombie flash fiction?  Then this book is forrr yoooouuuu!

I am waiting on an awesome agent for a new book I’d like to see in print.  Paranormal romance/urban fantasy here I come!  I’m well into the sequel already, and hitting short stories out of the park on a daily basis.

I’ll keep at it until- BWA HA HA YOU CAN’T STOP ME

Thanks for stopping by.

Oh what’s that?  This is my 100th post?

Hurrah!

Oh man, if I’ve been this into my small successes so far, when I get my first novel picked up I’m going to be happier than a kitten with a feather.  More excited than a porcupine with a banana.  You do know porcupines love bananas, right?

Anyway, thank you for stopping in and staying with me on this long, long journey to authordom.

Good news everyone!

I’ve had my third acceptance!

Well, my piece was accepted in March, but they were dealing with volume 1.  The contract finally was sent out, and I signed it.  I wanted to wait until it was ‘official’ before announcing it.  Good things come to those who wait!

I’ve been really bolstered by this one.

One piece published is a fluke.

Two could be a horrible mistake.

Three is the start of a beautiful friendship.  Three is pattern.  Three is what starts a career.  Man oh man am I ever happy to be telling you guys about my third publication.

My short story “Monday Matinee Madness” is about a Projectionist surviving in the zombie apocalypse, running films every Monday.  It will appear in Zombies Gone Wild vol.2, edited by Michael S. Gardner and Matt Nord.  It’s sure to be an eclectic mix of tales of the zombie apocalypse.  I will make sure you hear about the release date!

Thanks for checking in ever so often.  I hope to share more great news, like this, with you more and more frequently.

But for now, I’m 34,000 word into the book, and it’s coming along nicely.  Solved some problems I was having about conflict and the antagonist.  My next post will be all about PAX, which I was at over the weekend.  It was way. cool.

Thanks for reading.
